Bienvenidos a la clase de Español AP!
Dear Students and Parents,
I would like to welcome you to the official website for my AP Spanish Language class. Within this site you will find a plethora of helpful information as well as news pertaining to the class. Students, it is your responsibility to check this website often for any new assignments or practices that might be due. Although this class will be taught entirely in Spanish, I will leave certain parts of the website in English so that all students can easily navigate it and find the help they need.
This website will be used for student and parent communication, assignments, and it will also be used as a study center for your child. I will update the "Info" tab when needed to communicate class information and news to parents and students. The kids will be completing blogging assignments under the "Blog" tab throughout the year, as well as other assignments that will be submitted via this website. I set up this site as a study center that can be accessed 24/7 by your student. They can use it to review vocabulary PowerPoints for the upcoming test on the "Vocabulary" tab, or they go to "Links" to access many useful websites that will help drill them on grammar, listening, and writing topics.
During the school year your child should be practicing Spanish outside of the classroom in order to ensure optimal retention and success during the school year. Studies show that in order for your child to truly acquire another language, they must be constantly exposed to it. To aid in this process, I suggest that your student spend at least 10 minutes a day, five days a week on the National Spanish Exam website practicing grammar and reading comprehension, and at least 10 minutes a day on the Spanish Proficiency Exercises page practicing listening comprehension. Practice makes perfect!
The expectation of Mesquite ISD and of our administration at Poteet is that all students enrolled in AP courses will take the corresponding AP exams. That is my expectation also. Therefore, I will be teaching AP Spanish Language as a preparation course for the test. Everything that we do in class will be to improve the students' language skills so that they can be as successful as possible on the AP examination. For more information, please see the "AP Info" tab.
This class is very difficult and will require a lot of time and hardwork from your student. However, I will do anything in my power to help your student be as successful as they can be. Please feel free to contact me for any reason. You can find my contact information under the "Señora Jones" tab. I can assure you that together we will accomplish great things and hopefully all get a 5 on our AP Test!
Gracias,
Señora Jones
